Founders Marcus and Elena Rivera open the first Mod Pizza location on E State St in Rockford, IL. The concept is simple: fresh ingredients, infinite customization, and a welcoming atmosphere. The community responds immediately — lines form before the doors even open on day one.
Mod Pizza wins "Best Pizza in Rockford" from the Rockford Register Star reader poll for the first of many consecutive years. We launch our community giving program, donating a portion of every Tuesday's sales to local schools and nonprofits — a tradition we continue to this day.
We launch our full-service catering division, bringing the mods pizza experience to corporate events, weddings, and celebrations across Northern Illinois. In our first year, we cater over 200 events and become the go-to choice for businesses throughout the Rockford metro area.
We invest in a seamless online ordering platform, making it easier than ever to enjoy modpizza from anywhere. Our team grows to 30+ members and we introduce new seasonal menu items that celebrate regional flavors and local produce partnerships with Illinois farms.
We complete a full kitchen renovation, installing state-of-the-art stone deck ovens that deliver an even more authentic pizza experience. The renovated space also includes an expanded prep area, allowing us to increase capacity and reduce wait times without compromising quality.
We celebrate 10 years of mod pizza in Rockford. Over 50,000 pizzas served, hundreds of community events supported, and thousands of loyal customers who've made us a part of their lives.
